Aga’s love affair with teaching Spanish began 15 years ago as a TA at the University of Waterloo. For the last 10 years, her focus has been on beginner and intermediate Spanish, in medium and large-sized classrooms, in person and online. With every course offering, she has learned from the students’ experience and added to her arsenal of strategies and resources. Her teaching philosophy revolves around appealing to students’ affect and sense of gratification in their learning process. Aga has a PhD in Hispanic literary studies from the University of Toronto. In the area of cultural studies, her research interests include testimonial literature and trauma studies, Hispanic music and post-colonial studies, while in pedagogy, her research includes music in the language classroom, and the impact of affect on student learning.
